Parental Right to Withdraw from Religious Education

At Sunnydown School, Religious Education (RE) encourages students to develop an understanding of different religions, beliefs and worldviews, promoting respect, tolerance and an appreciation of the diverse society in which we live.

Parents and carers have the legal right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education. Those wishing to exercise this right are encouraged to contact the Headteacher to discuss their request and the arrangements that will be made for their child.

Parents are not required to provide a reason for withdrawal, and the school will respect their decision. Appropriate supervision will be provided for students who are withdrawn from RE.
