At Sunnydown School, we believe that some of life's most important lessons happen beyond the classroom. The Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze Award helps students build confidence, resilience, independence and teamwork through real-world challenges, adventure and service to others. It is an opportunity for every student to discover their strengths, achieve personal goals and prepare for life beyond school.

The Bronze Award provides students with the opportunity to develop new skills, improve their physical wellbeing, support their local community and take part in an exciting team expedition. Each section of the award encourages students to step outside their comfort zone, try new experiences and take pride in their achievements.

Participation in the Duke of Edinburgh Award supports many of the qualities that underpin the Sunnydown experience. Students learn to communicate effectively, solve problems, work collaboratively and take responsibility for their own development. Through volunteering and community engagement, they also gain a greater understanding of the positive impact they can have on the lives of others.

The skills and experiences gained through the Bronze Award are highly valued by colleges, employers and training providers. Students develop leadership, organisation, time management and decision-making skills that will support them throughout their education and future careers. Most importantly, they leave the programme with increased self-belief, a sense of accomplishment and the confidence to embrace future challenges.
