At Sunnydown, we believe education must extend beyond the classroom. Our co-curricular programme is a core entitlement for every student, designed to develop the confidence, independence and character needed to succeed in life.
From Participation to Leadership
At Sunnydown School, we believe that some of the most important learning happens beyond the classroom.
Our Co-Curricular Journey is a carefully planned five year pathway that helps every student grow in confidence, independence, resilience and character. Through meaningful experiences, rich opportunities and real world learning, we support our young people to move from supported participation to confident leadership.
Every experience is designed with purpose. From local visits and first team experiences in Year 7, through to leadership, mentoring and legacy projects in Year 11, students are encouraged to explore the world around them, discover their strengths and develop the skills they need for life beyond Sunnydown.
Our approach is progressive, nurturing and ambitious.
In the early years, students are supported to feel safe, take part and build confidence. As they move through the school, experiences become increasingly independent and aspirational, helping students to collaborate with others, contribute to their community, apply their learning in real life situations and ultimately lead and inspire others.
At the heart of our curriculum is the belief that every child deserves opportunities to succeed, belong and thrive. Our students are encouraged to try new things, challenge themselves, reflect on their achievements and celebrate success together. Whether taking part in a first swimming session, volunteering in the local community, completing work experience or leading younger students, every moment contributes to personal growth.
